Minnesota Made Eating Disorder Prevention History—And You Helped Make It Happen

One year ago, a groundbreaking law passed in Minnesota. And it’s saving lives. Thanks to the generous support of our WithAll community, WithAll spearheaded the passage of the first state law focused on eating disorder prevention and awareness in youth athletics. This law now requires the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) to provide school coaches with resources on eating disorder prevention—designed specifically for them and grounded in the latest medical research.

This is a moment to celebrate. And to say thank you.

Your Support Turned Vision Into Law

When our Executive Director first stepped into the role in 2017, she dreamed of a future where eating disorders were taken as seriously as concussions—where prevention, education, and early intervention were embedded in youth sports. At the time, it felt like a distant goal.

But today, because of you, that vision is real.

This law isn’t just the first of its kind in Minnesota. It’s the first of its kind in the nation. And other states are already reaching out for help to do the same.

From Silence to Action: A Life-Saving Shift

Eating disorders remain one of the most deadly and overlooked public health issues today. Before WithAll launched What to Say in 2019, there were no nationwide efforts focused on bringing prevention tools to the everyday adults who shape kids’ lives—parents, teachers, doctors, and yes, coaches.

With your support, we changed that.

Now, in over 600 Minnesota high schools, 4,000+ coaches will be equipped to talk about and act on eating disorder prevention—just as they do with concussions. This will impact more than 260,000 student-athletes across our state.

That’s not just progress. That’s transformation.

What’s Next—and How You Can Help

Passing the law was only the beginning. Our next steps include:

  • Creating a course in partnership with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health to ensure coaches receive the most effective, research-based training tools.
  • Continuing to push the envelope on what prevention looks like in everyday environments where kids grow.

We’re just getting started—and we need your help to go further.

  • Donate today to help equip every coach, teacher, and parent with the tools to protect kids from eating disorders.
  • Share this blog post to spread awareness of what’s possible when prevention becomes a priority.
  • Join our email list to stay updated on progress, new resources, and how you can make a difference.

Thank You for Being Part of the Change

Every milestone we’ve hit is because of you—our community of changemakers who believe every child deserves a life free from the burden of body dissatisfaction and an eating disorder. Together, we are rewriting the status quo.

Here’s to the next chapter—and to building a world where prevention, not silence, is the norm.

With gratitude,
The WithAll Team
