WithAll – What does it mean?
The name WithAll recognizes no one is alone in fighting an eating disorder or in working to prevent one.
It speaks to having the inner strength, the means – the wherewithal – to prevent an eating disorder or to recover from one.
With + All emphasizes that our partners are essential to the work we do. Partners that care as much as we do about mental and physical health allow us to reach many more people with simple, actionable resources that support health.
WithAll, with its capital “A” and “W”, also reflects the memory of Anna Westin who died of an eating disorder in 2000. Anna’s spirit is a part of all we do, propelling us forward to create a world without eating disorders.
Our Manifesto
We believe our children deserve full health—including healthy relationships with their bodies and the foods that nourish them. This is what we all deserve.
We believe in decades of research that has shown what we say to children about their bodies and food matters. A lot. We believe that by supporting and equipping adults, we empower our children to not only know, but truly believe, they are enough.
We believe in strength in numbers and stand by partners who want health for all.
Mental. Physical. All of it.
We believe eating disorders are too common and terribly misunderstood.
We believe eating disorders can be prevented.
We believe those living with or recovering from an eating disorder are strong beyond measure, and so are their loved ones. We walk alongside them, so they know they are not alone—no matter where they are on their journey.
We believe with wherewithal, resolute determination and working together, a world without eating disorders is possible.
We believe, together, WithAll, we can create this world.
It’s time. Let’s go.
Our History
In 2007 The Emily Program, a Minnesota-based national leader in innovative and personalized eating disorders treatment, started a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit foundation to advance its education, outreach and research efforts. In 2008, The Emily Program Foundation merged with the Anna Westin Foundation, a nonprofit established by Kitty Westin and her family following the tragic death of their daughter, Anna, from an eating disorder.
Through this merger, focus on eating disorder advocacy, support and community education emerged. In the following decade, The Emily Program Foundation educated over 35,000 young people about eating disorders and trained parents and caregivers on prevention. In addition, the organization provided financial support, via living-expense grants, to individuals to help them complete their treatment and find recovery. Under Kitty Westin’s leadership, the first-ever federal eating disorder legislation was passed through the Anna Westin Act and the 21st Century Cures Act.
In February 2019, The Emily Program Foundation changed its name to WithAll, marking a new focus on prioritizing eating disorder prevention, expanding recovery support and offering simple resources that reach many more people.
The name WithAll means no one is alone in fighting an eating disorder or in working to prevent one. It speaks to having the inner strength, the means – the wherewithal – to prevent an eating disorder or to recover from one. It emphasizes the organization’s desire to work with partners to reach more people. WithAll, with its capital “A” and “W”, also reflects the memory of Anna Westin.
The co-founders who advanced The Emily Program Foundation continue to be an integral part of WithAll’s board of directors and their work, including through establishment of The Anna Westin Memorial Fund – a dedicated fund of WithAll’s Financial Assistance Program. WithAll continues to sit at the advocacy table as a member of the Eating Disorders Coalition.
Our Team
Management team
Lisa Radzak
Executive Director
As Executive Director, Lisa leads WithAll’s strategic growth as a sustainable social enterprise dedicated to the prevention of and healing from eating disorders.
Lisa has more than 20 years of experience in public affairs, community relations, and law, and nearly 15 years of experience in non-profit leadership, most recently at Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media. She is a graduate of Mitchell Hamline School of Law, a member of the Minnesota Bar, and a Minnesota Supreme Court appointee to Minnesota’s Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board. She volunteers with her daughter’s school and with youth sports.
Lisa does this work because she knows eating disorders are not a choice; they are deadly, and they are everywhere. She also knows kids are not born with harmful thoughts and actions around food or their body—and it’s our job as adults to keep it this way so they can focus their precious brains and time on things that matter.
Lisa finds laughter, all children, and the numerous variations of sparkling water to be delightful.
