How You Helped Reach 800 Coaches (and Thousands of Young Athletes)

Dear WithAll Supporters,

This month, we partnered with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health for a national Nutrition for Coaches webinar. More than 800 coaches across the country participated to learn how their words and actions shape athletes’ relationships with food, body, and health.

Thanks to donors and sponsors, WithAll is a force that can ensure coaches receive nutrition education through a “mental and physical health first” lens—not one centered on harmful body or weight ideals.

When coaches are equipped with this approach, they can create environments that truly support young athletes’ well-being.

In short, you are helping turn the status quo that contributes to eating disorders on its head.

We know how much this work matters:
Up to 45% of female athletes and 19% of male athletes show signs of disordered eating. Behind every number is a young athlete who deserves to feel at home and comfortable in their body.

As we enter the year-end giving season, I keep coming back to this truth:
We know what we need to do; we have the tools. Now we need to reach the kids.

Your gift makes that possible—it fuels prevention, supports recovery, and changes outcomes for families across the country.

Thank you for believing in this mission and helping rewrite the story for the next generation.

With gratitude,

As Executive Director, Lisa leads WithAll’s strategic growth as a sustainable social enterprise dedicated to the prevention of and healing from eating disorders. Lisa has more than 20 years of experience in public affairs, community relations, and law, and nearly 15 years of experience in non-profit leadership, most recently at Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media. She is a graduate of Mitchell Hamline School of Law, a member of the Minnesota Bar, and a Minnesota Supreme Court appointee to Minnesota’s Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board. She volunteers with her daughter’s school and with youth sports. Lisa does this work because she knows eating disorders are not a choice; they are deadly, and they are everywhere. She also knows kids are not born with harmful thoughts and actions around food or their body—and it’s our job as adults to keep it this way so they can focus their precious brains and time on things that matter. Lisa finds laughter, all children, and the numerous variations of sparkling water to be delightful.

Envision a lively 11-year-old, healthy and full of joy. So many friends, so engaged in the classroom, a naturally skilled athlete. She enjoys a well-rounded diet, and, like most kids her age, enjoys sweets. She’s stronger, and fuller than many of her peers, a result of earlier puberty, and an asset for sports.
